Robert Stahelin - Michigan 911 Supervisor of the Year

Robert Stahelin

Charlotte, Mich- Robert R. Stahelin II was named 911 Supervisor of the year by the Michigan Chapter of the Association of Public Safety Officials (MI-APCO). Sandra Nielsen, President of MI-APCO, stated in a letter to Supervisor Stahelin, “We at MI-APCO are proud to honor dedicated public safety professionals like you whom make a difference every day.”

Stahelin has been with Eaton County 911 for almost 25 years. His current responsibilities include supervising the dispatch teams, along as implementing technology solutions that Eaton County utilizes to enhance public safety. Director Michael Armitage describes Stahelin as “the glue that holds the team together when times are though.” According to Armitage, the job of a 911 telecommunicator is extremely stressful. Stahelin makes it a point to check in on members of the department to make sure they are okay after those 911 calls that can be disturbing or hard to cope with. “He respected in the industry, far beyond Eaton County, and he cannot be replaced.”

The award will officially be presented on October 17th at a statewide ceremony in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Armitage states that the center is grateful for Stahelin being a member of the agency, and are excited to see him receive this award.

Eaton County Central Dispatch serves 14 fire departments, 8 law enforcement agencies, and 6 EMS agencies in the county. The center answers and average of 150,000 calls per year. ECCD is an innovative center which utilizes many emerging technologies.
