STANDARD AND POOR’S ISSUES AA RATING TO EATON COUNTY
March 22 – Charlotte, Michigan – From Eaton County Treasurer, Bob Robinson. Standard and Poor’s Rating Services has confirmed a AA general obligation bond rating for Eaton County government, upgraded from AA-. The AA rating establishes a financial evaluation that predicts a stable outlook for the county.
“Although the County has faced financial challenges fueled by the difficulties in the state and national economy these past few years, the latest AA rating is a high-grade rating,” said Eaton County Treasurer, Bob Robinson. “This is a good indication that the County, and the Capitol area, is on the path to economic recovery.”
As a Credit Rating Agency, Standard & Poor's issues independent credit ratings for the debt of public and private institutions. It is one of several agencies that have been designated a nationally recognized statistical rating organization by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The AA rating indicates a very strong capacity to meet financial commitments. A strong rating means that County issued bonds could be more competitive, and available to a larger number of investors
“Much of the credit goes to the operation and management efficiencies of the Controller’s office,” said Robinson. “Under the direction of the Board of Commissioners, the County Controller is the chief fiscal and administrative officer for the County.”
“This was an unexpected, but pleasant surprise,” said Eaton County Controller, John Fuentes.
