Detention

About the Unit

The Eaton County Youth Facility operates a coed 8 bed juvenile detention unit which houses juveniles who have been court ordered by the Eaton County Circuit, Juvenile/ Family or Probate Courts. While detained on the unit, youth are provided a safe, secure, structured trauma-informed environment while being monitored 24 hours a day by our highly trained staff.

Youth participate in various educational programs, discussion groups, recreation/gym and other activities along with having various job responsibilities. Youth have weekly goals developed (contracts) to help improve on specific behaviors and skills.

Detention Services Offered to Youth:

    • Within 7 days of admittance youth are seen by a medical professional for a physical exam. Staff coordinate all medical care and medications 
    • Youth attend school year-round 5 days a week with teachers who coordinate with Grand Ledge Public School District. The school system does accommodate special education services
    • Youth for Christ is offered once a week for those residents that are interested in their spiritual growth
    • Daily groups including life skills, anger control and stress management, RBT skills, communication, and conflict resolution
    • Therapy services are delivered by in-house master’s level, licensed clinicians as needed
