COVID-19 Court Information

In accordance with Administrative Order No. 2020-14, effective May 6, 2020, and upon approval of the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO), the Eaton County Trial Courts began Phase One of their planning to return to full capacity on May 29, 2020, began Phase Two planning on June 16, 2020 and Phase Three planning on September 1, 2020. The chief judge of the Eaton County Trial Courts, including the 56th Circuit, 56A District and Probate Courts has consulted with the local health department and determined that local health data indicates conditions have deteriorated and gating criteria for continuing in Phase Three planning is not satisfied as of September 8, 2020.  AO 2020-13 Return to Phase Two

In compliance with MSC Administrative Order 2020-6, court proceedings will be livestreamed via YouTube, unless the proceeding is closed or access would otherwise be limited by statute or rule.


The Eaton County Trial Courts will operate on a modified schedule for conducting in-person proceedings limited to essential functions between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, daily.  Those requiring to conduct business with the Court are encouraged to contact the Court prior to arriving at the Courthouse to confirm their need to appear. 

Facial covering must be worn while in enclosed public areas, unless an individual is medically unable to tolerate a face covering.
