Conviction in December 2018 Murder
Douglas R. Lloyd, Eaton County Prosecuting Attorney, announced that yesterday, October 31, 2019, Neal Prince, age 19, of Lansing was convicted for his role in the December 14, 2018 murder of Donovan Barfield on Bayview Drive in Lansing. An Eaton County Jury convicted Prince of 1st Degree Premeditated Murder, 1st Degree Felony Murder, and Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
Prince is subject to a mandatory sentence of Life Without Parole when sentenced by 56th Circuit Court Judge John D. Maurer on December 27, 2019 at 9:00am.
The case was handled by Eaton County Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Adam Strong and Traci Akins. Prince was represented at trial by Attorney David B. Carter Jr. of Charlotte.
