Eaton County Rave Alert Test During Tornado Drill On Wednesday, March 24th At 1 Pm
Charlotte, Mich.- Eaton County Central Dispatch will be practicing and testing all tornado warning procedures during the statewide tornado drill, which includes messages from our Rave Alert system. At that time, expect to receive an alert on your residential and business landline telephones (cell phone devices will also receive the alert if you have subscribed to Rave Alerts from Eaton County). The call will clearly announce that this is a drill. According to 911 Director Michael Armitage, “this gives us a good opportunity to fully test the system annually.”
Director Armitage says that he hopes residents will take a moment and practice their tornado / severe weather procedures, discuss your emergency sheltering plans with family and associates, or at least think about how you would take cover if the need was imminent.
This drill opportunity is to help our community be more resilient in the face of a severe weather event or tornado. In addition to the Rave Alert test, Central Dispatch will also be activating the 37 outdoor warning sirens located within the county.
Please spread the word & be prepared!
Now is a good time to register for emergency alerts by texting EATON to 67283, or visit eatoncounty911.org.
