Updated information on the Friday night's Triple Homicide:
On Friday, September 24, 2021, Eaton County Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 10000 block of Bishop Hwy on a 911 unknown call. Shortly after this call we received a call from a neighbor saying a child had arrived on foot to the residence and she had an injury to her foot. The neighbor told dispatch they heard screaming and shots coming from next door. ECSO deputies arrived and located three deceased adults at the address of the original 911 unknown call. The victims all appeared to have been shot. Deputies quickly developed a potential suspect and a statewide law enforcement broadcast as well as social media was alerted looking for Daniel Sougstad. Early the next morning Daniel Sougstad was stopped and arrested by neighboring police agencies in Ingham County. He was arrested without incident.
This was not a random act and all the victims were part of Daniel Sougstad’s family. We appreciate everyone’s help in locating the suspect. Sougstad is presumed innocent until proven guilty. We will update again later this week with more information including identities of the victims.
Sougstad is currently lodged at the Eaton County Jail and is being held on three counts of open murder and three counts of felony firearm. Our thoughts and prayers go out the family and friends of these victims of this tragedy.
