Our higher call volumes occurred in the following areas: Traffic Stops-79, Property Damage Crashes-50, Alarms-46, Assist Citizen/Motorist Assist-41, Suspicious Situation/Subject/Vehicle-37, Traffic Hazards-37, Check Well Beings-26, Traffic Violations-21, Car in the Ditch-18, Domestic Disputes-18, Car/Deer Accidents-17, Shoplifting Complaints-15, Civil Complaints-14, Property Damage Hit & Run-12, Vacation Checks-11, and Personal Injury Crashes-10.
IRS Scam Calls – Tax filing season is a prime time for criminals posing as IRS agents in hopes of stealing your money or personal information to conduct phone scams. Here are some tell-tale signs of a tax scam along with actions you, as taxpayers, can take if you receive a scam call:
The IRS will:
- never demand you pay your taxes in a specific way immediately using a specific payment method such as a prepaid debit card, gift card or wire transfer. Generally, the IRS will first mail a bill to any taxpayer who owes taxes.
- never threaten to have you arrested.
- never threaten legal action.
- never demand that taxes be paid without giving taxpayers the opportunity to question or appeal the amount owed.
