May 1-7, 2022, is National Correctional Officers Week - The Eaton County Jail consists of 374 beds and is divided into areas that house minimum, medium, and maximum security inmates, female inmates, work release inmates, and inmate workers. There is a staff of 39 Corrections Officers who are highly trained professionals working under stressful circumstances while adhering to the guidelines directed by the Michigan Department of Corrections and the policies and procedures of the Eaton County Sheriff’s Office. I am very proud of each staff member. Their job is not an easy one and was made even more difficult during COVID, taking the necessary measures to keep the virus from entering the facility, quarantining and testing protocols, and maintaining sanitizing standards. They are most deserving of having this week dedicated to recognizing them.
Take time this week to thank the men and women you may know who work in jails, prisons and community corrections.
Yours in Public Safety,
Sheriff Tom Reich
