Between January 29-February 5, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 721 calls for service/events.  Our higher call volumes occurred in the following areas:  Traffic Stops-118, Assist Citizen/Motorist Assists-37, Traffic Violations-31, Suspicious Subject/Situation/Vehicle-31, Property Damage Crashes-23, Alarms-22, Car/Deer Accidents-21, Shoplifting Complaints-20, Check Well-Beings-17, Vacation Checks-17, Traffic Hazards-16, Larcenies-11, Civil Complaints-10, Disorderly Person or Subject-10, Property Damage Hit & Run-9, and Personal Injury Crashes-9.   

OK2SAY – is an excellent student safety program that has proven highly successful allowing students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.

Anyone can report tips confidentially on criminal activities or potential harm directed at students, school employees, or schools.

The goal of OK2SAY is to stop harmful behavior before it occurs by encouraging anyone to report threatening behavior to caring adult authorities who can help. OK2SAY encourages Michigan residents to confidentially submit tips 24/7 using the OK2SAY mobile app, online, email, texting, or by calling trained program technicians.

Upon receipt of a tip, specially trained OK2SAY technicians address the immediate need and forward the information to the appropriate responding law enforcement agency or organization. Tips go to schools, local law enforcement agencies, community mental health agencies or the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
