Two Eaton County employees, Elizabeth Howland and Cassandra Yarger, have been recognized as 911 Trainer of the Year and 911 Line Supervisor of the Year by the Michigan Chapter of the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (MI-APCO). The MI-APCO presents awards to public safety communications personnel who have demonstrated the highest levels of personal and professional conduct and performance in the line of duty.

Elizabeth Howland was named 911 Line Supervisor of the Year. Howland has been in the public safety communications industry for over twelve years, serving with Eaton County for eight years, and a supervisor at Eaton County Central Dispatch (ECCD) since 2021.

“Libby's commitment to the professional growth of her team is commendable. She goes above and beyond to mentor, coach, and provide opportunities for her subordinates to advance in their careers, creating a positive and supportive work environment.” said ECCD Director Kelley Cunningham.

Cassandra Yarger was named 911 Trainer of the Year. Yarger was recently named Supervisor at ECCD, having been with Eaton County for over 12 years. She previously held positions of Public Safety Telecommunicator and Communications Training Officer

“Sandra will go above and beyond for a trainee in every step of training,” said ECCD Supervisor Jessica Nunham. “Most specifically, I have seen Sandra make her own personalized training material for trainees, beyond what is already offered to them.”

The MI-APCO will officially present the awards on October 26th at a statewide ceremony in Frankenmuth, MI.
