National Drug Take Back Day was Saturday, April 27th. We were happy to participate in this successful event. This success was made possible by the many citizens who took advantage of this opportunity. Here is a word of thanks we recently received -
On
behalf of the Michigan Opioid Prescribing Engagement Network (OPEN), we would
like to thank you for partnering with us in hosting a Medication Take Back
Event in your community. As a result of our collective efforts, over 3,000
pounds of unused medication and approximately 46,000 opioid pills were removed
from communities around Michigan. By safely removing these medications, we were
not only able to decrease the risk of potential diversion, but also educate the
public about safe drug storage and disposal.
Our
team is starting to plan another Opioid Medication Take Back Event for this
coming fall on 10/26/19, and we will be contacting your organization in the
hopes that you will join us again to help better your Michigan community. With
the support of organizations like yours, we will truly be able to make a
difference.
Thank
you, again, for your contributions towards this spring’s Medication Take Back
Event. Should you have any additional questions or thoughts, please feel free
to contact us. We look forward to collaborating with you in the future.
Regards,
The
Michigan OPEN team
