Section 15.233 (3)(1) of the Freedom of Information Act indicates a FOIA request must include the requesting person’s complete name, address, and telephone number and/or e-mail address. Your request is to be as specific as possible and provide as much information to enable the County to locate the requested records.

FOIA requests must be in writing and be legible; FOIA requests cannot be made over the phone. A FOIA request may be submitted via the U.S. mail, e-mail, facsimile, or in person, by completing a FOIA Request form.
FOIA requests cannot be paid for on-line or over the phone as the County is not set up to accept credit card payments.
FOIAs can be paid for with a check made payable to Eaton County or in person with exact cash (as we are not able to make change). Please include the FOIA # the County assigned to the request that is being paid.

If a cost is involved for completing a FOIA request, the County will provide the requestor a good faith estimate in advance of processing the request. If the cost exceeds $50.00, a good faith deposit from the person requesting the public record(s) is authorized under Section 15.234(2). The deposit shall not exceed ½ of the total fee.
Media will be shared with the requestor via Axon/evidence.com which includes body worn camera, in car, surveillance, cell phone, and interview videos; audio recordings, such as 911 calls and recorded interviews, and large quantities of photos. The requestor will be informed when the FOIA response is provided that a separate e-mail will be sent by Axon/evidence.com that includes a link to download the media.
